Resistance and Rescue, Denmark's response to the Holocaust
by Judy Ellis Glickman
Description: Without words, the photos of Judy Ellis Glickman tell the remarkable story of the flight of the Jews out of Denmark to safety in Sweden in the fall of 1943. Using subtle manipulations of the photographic process, Glickman captures the many emotions of the Rescue; the stately beauty of the Krystalgade Synagogue in Copenhagen; the unaffected pride and vitality of the resistance leaders and fishermen; the sadness of the episode at the Gilleleje Church; the potential freedom of the Sea.
